Learn the Slight Edge to Success

Successful people are ordinary people doing simple things that bring about extraordinary results. Learn the simple steps to success.

We live in a time of high tech, information age. There is actually more information available for us than (let's say,) 50, 30, 10 or even two years ago, just like that. If we want to know, say, about how to stay healthy, how to succeed in a home based business, how or how to teach your dog new tricks, all we have to do is type in the information your seek on any search engine, you will be directed to either websites or articles on that subject with a fast speed, unlike 10 years ago. Yet with all this information available, we still see an increasing number of people suffering from so called "Aging diseases" (such as high blood pressure, Osteoporosis, heart diseases...etc.) at younger age and even, in some cases, children (like obesity and Type 2 diabetes). There is an increase of failure in businesses, and more failed marriages...etc, In spite of the books or other sources of information that are provided. Is the information we are getting lacking in quality? No. Is the information we're getting too difficult to achieve positive, effective results? No. Do we need more information? No. So what is the problem? Our problem is that, simply, we tend to expect "Quantum Leap" results. To explain, here is an example of a "Quantum Leap". We want to plant the seeds and expect to reap the harvest without the cultivating in between. It simply doesn't work like that, and you don't have to have a green thumb to know that. It's common sense.

You might ask, "Well then, how are we to solve this problem?" The secret is Time. Time is that one value that is often skipped. Time to do those simple things every day to achieve the results you seek. Simple things are easy to Do but are also just as easy Not to do as Jim Rohn had stated in one of his books. It is this critical step that transforms this "Quantum Leap" into a true, efficient process, giving it the cultivating time to see the result. Most people have a good start, but then fail to continue to do those simple things that are essential to success daily.

These simple steps, the choices we make daily whether to do them or not, ( they may even seem insignificant) when compounded in time, will either build us or break us.

Let me illustrate this principle from my personal experience. I love to garden and so does my neighbor, Don. I can see his garden from my backyard and he can see mine from his backyard. Each Spring, I would see Don and his family out getting their garden ready and plant the seeds. Most of the time they start cultivating their garden spot a week or two before me. I would see the neatly cultivated ground and the beautiful rows of seeds they have planted. In a few days I'd see "green" things sprouted in every row.

I couldn't really tell what he had planted because not only had the seeds he planted sprouted but also the weeds around the seedlings. They water the garden sometime and maybe even do a little weeding now and then. Before long Don's garden looked more like a weed patch than a garden. The harvest for him is nothing to brag about.

I started my garden just maybe a week later. I cultivated the soil, made the rows and planted the seeds. I had seeds, to plant a little later because they required warmer weather. Each day I went out to water my garden and weed rows while the weeds were very tiny. Yes, I did miss a few which I noticed how rapidly they grew and I would pull them out. I spent some time every day doing those simple things. Maybe it was the weeding, watering a spot till it had enough water, fertilizing, or it may needed some insecticide. But I always did some cultivating daily. Although I didn't see significant change on the day I did those simple things but in a few weeks or months (depending upon the type of plant) my garden is immaculate. Because of the simple things I did (the cultivating time) each day, compounded daily, that year I had a great harvest. I had enough to share with my neighbors, even Don. So was I more talented in gardening than Don? No. Do I have a "green thumb" and Don does not? No! The only difference is I did the simple little things daily that my not even show any significant change to my garden that day but when compounded in time, I reap a great harvest.

I see the same thing happening in people I know whether they are working on health improvement or building a home based business. Time is the secret in their success or failure. The principle is the same. I have seen people who start on a wellness program as simple as drinking the proper amount of a mineral water that would alkalize their pH for good health, replace their all their vital mineral and electrolytes their body needs and hydrates them cellularly. All they have to do is drink enough of this mineral water daily throughout the days to enjoy a life of abundant health, exercise and eat a balanced diet, but failed to do this simple things. Why? Because it's simple to do and it's simple not to do them. It is easy to eat a greasy fast food hamburger and fries or choose to eat a healthier meal. Eating hamburger and fries and drinking soda would not kill you that day but compounded in time will kill you. If we get instant result of a heart attack after we eat the burger/fries and drink soda we would probably will never eat another burger/ fries or drink soda. They sleep better; they have more energy; they don't get sick as often...etc. The list goes on.

We live in a world where we want quantum leap results. We want to start something and want to see results, immediate results. When don't give it enough time to do the simple things, and conclude that the product doesn't work or that's it just hype that one can succeed in a home business. Because the thing we need to do is easy to do, it is also easy not to do. The secret to success is doing the simple little positive things daily compounded with "time" will bring great results! Whether we are working on love relationship, family relationship, business, health, self improvement, etc... if we give it the "TIME" it takes in doing the positive simple things, success will follow.
