Independence Day has been celebrated since 4 July 1776 when the United States formerly declared itself independent from the Kingdom of Great Britain. The more common name for this American federal holiday is known as the Fourth of July.
Twelve Months Celebration
Since some of you will take time out to celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, I'd like to propose that all of us take time to reflect on what has occurred during the previous twelve months and what each of us would like to have happen over the coming twelve months.
Looking forward to private success is an exciting sentiment, I know this from personal experience therefore for that reason every day I take the time and put in the effort to have the best chance to make my dreams come true.
Declaration of Independence Is A Model Worth Pursuing
Independence Day can be a rather special occurrence for those of you who want to make a huge difference in your life. Take for example the following quote from the Declaration of Independence:
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
Goals Can Be Varied Yet Focused
Over the years I've encouraged all my coaching clients to choose their own 'Independence Day' and work towards it diligently, consistently and seriously. Goals can be varied yet focused. Usually the general intention tends to be a mix of health, wealth and relationship goals. Whatever your personal independence day goals may be the following exercise will help you to define, refine and begin your journey to celebrating your own 'Independence Day'.
Reflect on your personal lifestyle, business career and health and relationships up until today.
Write your thoughts down in a journal under the heading 'Independence Day'
Now write down twelve different outcomes you'd like to achieve over the coming year.
Next in your journal plot the way to achieving your desired outcome by creating an Independence Day pathway. Divide the next twelve months into four blocks of 90 days each, a total of 360 days. Write down the months and days for each block. Add on the remaining five days to your final block. You now have a whole year to work with.
Within your Independence Day pathway write in your desired twelve different outcomes in the appropriate start and completed week or month with its date.
By writing down your desires in this way you are prescribing your daily actions that will give you your desired outcomes and building a focused pathway to allow you to take daily action and remain motivated to put in the effort required to achieve your goals.
This exercise will get you started and clear on what you really want in your life and how you can change it. You'll also find that your desired outcomes will change as you progress day by day, week by week, month by month due to the nature of your current situation, the actions you apply, the amount of effort you allocate and the pace you set yourself to accelerate change in your lifestyle. Your future Independence Day will be reflected in your behaviour and the model you adopt to entirely change your lifestyle from what you have now, to what you truly desire.
