Is It All About Diet & Exercise?

When it comes to wellness the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional are all connected. In fact they are just different ways of looking at a whole human being. All of these aspects are inseparable. Because of their deep connectedness, they have a profound influence on one another. A positive, life- affirming, wellness-producing action, no matter how large or small, in any one area benefits all others. Most people just focus on diet and exercise but there are two important and often overlooked aspects of health that have a huge influence on our wellness.

Our social environment is made up of our relationships. Everyone you come into contact with has the possibility of transforming your health. The people you know the best and spend the most time with usually have a greater affect on your health than people you barely know. Your family, friends and co-workers influence your health in a big way. Take a second and think about the people you spend the most time with. Are you in healthy, supportive relationships? Are your relationships toxic? Who you hang with helps or hampers your health.

Our physical environment is where we live. Where you live influences your health. You spend most of your time at work and home. Is your house or office dirty and cluttered? Is it clean and tidy? Is your house full of health harming toxic chemicals? What about our collective house and life support system, the Earth? We can never be any healthier than our life support system. It is in our best interest to take care of our planet. It is good for our health. Whether it is our home, office, or the Earth, keeping our physical environment healthy keeps us healthy.
