What Men and Women Should Understand About His Sexual Health

If you were to take a survey on the amount of available information regarding sexual health, you would quickly conclude that the topic of female sexual health is discussed much much more than males sexual health in general. When it comes to the more specific niche of anti aging, the topic of sexual health for men becomes a topic for discussion to a much greater extent. However, no matter what the age group happens to be, sexually active men are prone to sexual risk just as well as women. It really does not matter whether the man is heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual male sexual health should not be taken for granted. Issues that could compromise male sexual health should be identified and addressed in order to prevent or minimize safety concerns for both the man and his partner.

Men who are conscious of their diet and physical condition tend to be healthier in general and also healthier sexually. Having a strong cardiovascular system, muscle tone and strong bone structure contributes to good overall health which in turns allows the bodies natural immune system to more readily fight off sexually transmitted infections or diseases. Also, being in a one on one relationship greatly reduces the likelihood of contracting a STD. Especially if neither partner uses intravenous drugs.

Some of the diseases or disorders associated with male sexual health are:

When a male ejaculates prior to or immediately after penetration, this is referred to as premature ejaculation. This can happen when he is either overly aroused, is experiencing anxiety or has lost control. When sperm is somehow forced backwards up into the bladder instead of out of the penis, this called retrograde ejaculation. Finally when the ejaculation occurs so slow that it does not allow orgasm, than this referred to as retarded ejaculation. When the male is not able to become erect or the erection does not last long enough to have sexual intercourse or ejaculation, this condition is referred to as erectile dysfunction or impotence. The causes for this can be medical or psychological.

Some men experience a reduction in sexual desire. There may be a number of different reasons for this to occur. It could be psychological, diabetes, high blood pressure, medications or lowered testosterone. As mentioned above men are usually not prone to sexually transmitted infections or diseases if they practice safe sex, are in a monogamous relationship and do not take intravenous drugs or have sex with a partner who uses intravenous drugs. However, if he does contract a STD or STI, he will experience symptoms such as urination problems, urine with blood, a discharge from is penis, lesions or sores or itching on the genitals.

If a person does experience any of the sexual problems cited above, the best advice is to obtain medical attention immediately. No matter if the underlying cause is physical or psychological, there are numerous therapies that can bring about successful resolution of the problem. In many instances the therapy involves both a physical and psychological component to address not only the physical, but the mental and social impacts of the problem.

Immediate medical assistance must be sought when it comes to problems concerning male sexual health. Diagnosis is usually done through physical and psychological exams, as well as a thorough evaluation of medical history. Treatment usually comes in two phases: medical treatment for physical symptoms and psychological therapy for mental and social factors.

For those of us looking for marriage counseling advice on how to choose the right marriage counselor, there are many considerations we need to take in to make our decision. You should most definitely want to choose a marriage counselor who has a successful marriage.

What I'm saying is do you want someone who is happily married, divorced, with or without children, or a male or female counselor? These are very important factors you need to think about in choosing a counselor to help fix problems in marriage.

You need to be able to trust your marriage counselor enough to be open and honest with them. They should be able to handle issues that cause breakdown in a marriage. Issues like infidelity, anger, unemployment, sexual dissatisfaction, or lack of communication.

The first thing you should is seek advice from friends or family who have used a marriage counselor. If they recommend someone and you trust them, then you may not need to search for a counselor yourself. There are many counselors that don't have professional training or a license.

Make sure you choose someone with a licensed mental health professional. Make sure that they are available outside of the session too. You should be able to call your counselor for help if there is an emergency in your marriage or you really need someone to talk to.

When you and your spouse first visit your marriage counselor you should feel comfortable with them. If you both are unsatisfied after the first visit then look for another counselor with the same considerations in mind to avoid wasting both time and money.

Marriage counseling generally costs $100 per session. There are many couples that can agree with the fact that a relationship isn't a bed of roses, and that it takes work for them to succeed. I Am a Mental Health Patient - What Should I Expect?

Mental health problems including anxiety related disorders and depression, are extremely common but despite the fact that there are many people suffering there is still a lot stigma surrounding mental health issues and as such it's not uncommon for an individual to try to battle it out on their own, keeping their thoughts and fears to themselves, in an attempt to avoid facing up to the fact that they need help.

This will not only delay recovery but can make the symptoms of a mental health problem much worse. Being unable or unwilling to speak to ones family and friends about it can be an intensely isolating and frightening experience. Not only are you trying to struggle alone with everyday practical routines involving work, home and relationships, you are also trying to deal with what's going on in your mind too.

The truth is, nearly all types of mental health problems are treatable and the recovery time may be much shorter than what you would imagine provided you get the right help. The first step though has to come from you and that means accepting first of all that you have a problem and secondly, that you need help. So what can you expect as a mental health patient?

How depression and other mental health problems are diagnosed?

In the first instance have a word with your doctor as he or she is the best person to offer initial advice on what might be the best course of action and possible treatment options for you.

Indeed, for many people, a visit to the doctor is the only step they ever need to take. Your doctor will be able to take into account your full medical history and your symptoms to rule out anything else that may be responsible for causing those symptoms. He or she will also be able to prescribe medication if that is considered appropriate and advise you on what to expect by way of side effects, or may recommend some form of talking therapy.

If on the other hand your symptoms are more severe then your doctor may consider it necessary to refer you to a psychiatrist or other mental health professional for a more in depth assessment. Again, this is a positive step in the right direction as someone who is more qualified in mental health disorders will be able to provide you with the sort of help and treatment you need in order to get well again.

What worries most people is the fear of what will happen if others know they are suffering with a mental health problem so they try to hide it. Most people who are suffering also have a lot of questions they would like answers to but have no one to ask. By putting yourself in the care of the right people you give yourself the best chance of making a full and complete recovery as quickly as possible.

Damaging Relationships - 3 Signs the Relationship Should Be Over

Relationships are challenging even when both parties are healthy and well balanced. A successful relationship in this case can be achieved through effort and commitment on the part of both parties. There are relationships, however, where no amount of effort on your part will prevent the damaging effects of staying with your partner. There are toxic scenarios where the best thing truly is to end the relationship. Here are 3 signs that your relationship should end:

1. There is abuse in the relationship. If you are being physically abused, please contact a domestic violence shelter or a counselor who specializes in that issue to get advice. Physical abuse typically escalates, and the most dangerous time is generally at the time of leaving the relationship. You will need guidance on the safest plan for exiting your particular situation successfully. If you are being put down, made to feel inferior, incompetent, or crazy, there is a good chance you are being emotionally or psychologically abused. In this case, the effects may not be as outwardly noticeable, but they are extremely damaging. Loss of self worth and depression frequently results.

2. There is untreated, active addiction in your partner. Your partner, if actively using drugs and/or alcohol, is not fully present in the relationship. The substance will always win out over you, and you are likely to end up in a cycle of crisis management with your partner that may leave little mental energy for you to focus on your own life, dreams, and ambitions. You may be impacted by legal and financial trouble if your partner ends up prosecuted or sued for behavior while intoxicated (like a DUI). You may even be in physical danger if, for example, you get in a car with your partner who has been using, and you have an accident.

3. Your partner commits serial infidelity. It is possible for a relationship to become stronger after an affair, if both parties are willing to work hard, open lines of communication, and be accountable to one another. However, if there is a pattern of unfaithfulness, there is no opportunity for trust to be rebuilt, and there is no foundation for a relationship. In addition, you place your health at risk by staying in a non-monogamous relationship.

Why You Should Not Commit To Someone In The First 3-6 Months Of A Relationship

I understand how exciting it is to have finally found someone but before you get too involved make sure you've asked enough questions, aren't giving in to sexual chemistry alone, acting on the promise of material gain, making premature compromises, putting commitment before true love and happiness, and ignoring the warning signs of potential problems, hurt and a broken heart.

You can know certain things about a person within a few days or weeks of meeting him or her, but there are other things that take time to know about a person in order for you to decide whether to continue or stop seeing the person.

Realistically it is not advisable to commit to someone in the first 3-6 months of a relationship when you are likely running on Oxytocin, which is a chemical found in chocolate. Oxytocin creates the sense of well-being and euphoria that comes with "falling in love." This might as well be dubbed the period of temporary insanity, because you are not in command of all your faculties; your brain is hijacked by those lovely chemicals, interfering with your ability to think clearly.

Here are some guidelines to help you at each stage of your relationship. Do not feel frustrated if say you are at stage two of your relationship but still haven't found out things that you should have at stage one. Just make sure that you try to find out those things before you move to the next stage. Also all relationships move at different paces, the stages are guidelines to move you through to where you want your relationship to go and not rules that must be strictly followed. The idea is to know when to quit and what needs attention for the relationship to move forward.

Stage One ( 0 - 3 months). Make sure you know enough about his or her:

- Family background

- Attitude towards life, about love, commitment, children (if you want to have some), personal growth, professional help etc.

- Spiritual beliefs and practices, ethics and morals

- Sexual attitudes and preferences

- Career goals, financial background and habits

- Past love relationships, sexual history (including sexually transmitted diseases), break up patterns or lessons learned - Health habits food, exercise, grooming, cleanliness - personal and surroundings etc - Fears, phobias, addictions and any mental health problems, etc. - Interests, hobbies, dislikes etc

Stage Two (3 - 12 months). At this stage you should be sure whether you are emotionally invested in this relationship or not. If you are not or feel that the other person is not, this is the time to get out. Be honest about how the relationship makes you feel.

- Do you feel the person is emotionally mature? - Do you feel he or she hasn't recovered from past relationships? - Does he or she seem to have serious issues from his or her childhood that may or are affecting the relationship (needy, dependent, controlling, manipulative, abusive etc)?

- Is he or she emotionally (and physically) available - do you spend enough quality time together?

- Do you care more about the person than he or she does about you?

- Does he or she care more about you than you do about him or her?

- Are you more in love with the person's potential than the real person?

- Are you infatuated with him or her for external reasons (looks, family background, social status, material possessions etc) more than you really care about the person?

- Are you spiritually and sexually compatible? Does the person remind you a lot about a previous partner (in an uncomfortable way?)

- Do you exaggerate the persons qualities or lie to friends, family or co-workers about how you truly feel and about the relationship? - Does the person support you in your goals, ambitions, interests etc and are they proud of you and show it?

- Is the person faithful, devoted and affectionate towards you?

- DO YOU FEEL LOVED UNCONDITIONALLY?

Stage Three (Over 12 months). At this stage you should be in love. You know you love him or her and he or she loves you. You get along well and you've introduced him or her to friends, family and colleagues.

Make sure that you've discussed all the possible time bombs and have agreed on how to handle issues related to this when they come up (and if there are any)

- Significant age difference

- Differences in spiritual or religious beliefs

- Differences in social, racial, ethnic or educational background

- Children from previous marriage or relationships, in-laws and other extended family Ex-spouse (s), girlfriends, boyfriends etc.

- Holidays, gifts, anniversaries and other special occasions

The critical success factor in determining your relationship's success however, lies in knowing what you want, relying on proper communication and knowing how to compromise when you know you have found that special someone.

Destructive Relationships - 3 Clear Signs the Relationship Should End

All relationships require work and a sincere desire to succeed. Generally, if both partners are healthy and balanced, and committed to bettering the relationship, the relationship can be a place of support and fulfillment. However, there are some situations and circumstances in which such a scenario is virtually impossible. If you insist upon staying in the relationship and persisting despite some of these conditions, you are likely to experience and painful, drawn out experience in disappointment, sadness and betrayal. Here are 3 clear signs that the relationship is destructive and may be better off ending:

1. There has been serial infidelity. An affair can ultimately strengthen a relationship, if the incident increases the communication and accountability between the partners. However, when there is a persistent pattern of unfaithfulness and broken trust, there is no foundation on which to build a safe, mutually satisfying union. Moreover, the health risks associated with continuing on in a non-monogamous relationship are very real and not worth your life and well being.

2. Your partner has untreated addiction issues. If your partner abuses drugs and/or alcohol and is not treating this problem, you will always take second place to the substance your partner craves. There are practical risks involved with associating with an addict as well. There are legal and financial pitfalls (DUI's, personal injury, even manslaughter or murder charges if someone is killed as a result of drinking or drugging). Your personal safety may even be at risk, for example if you get into a vehicle with your significant other when they have been using, and they have an accident.

3. There is any kind of abuse taking place in the relationship. If your partner is physically abusing you, contact a counselor or shelter that specializes in domestic violence issues. You will need proper guidance on how safely to exit the relationship. Keep in mind, physical violence typically escalates. Emotional and psychological abuse can also be very destructive and can also be difficult to properly identify. If you feel down, inferior, incompetent, or even crazy around your partner, that is definitely something to look at more closely. In any abusive situation, just know that staying means you will spend much of your time and energy trying to keep yourself safe and the relationship afloat.

Relationship Enhancement - 6 Questions You Should Ask Yourself About Your Relationship

If your relationship isn't all you think it should be, consider what you are doing to shape it, and contribute to its current condition. I'm not pointing a finger of blame; but the simple fact is that you can only think of one thing at a time, and there's only so much time in a day, or days in a lifetime. If you don't think about how you want your relationship to be - it won't be. And, if you spend your time complaining about how your relationship is - that's how it will stay. Here are six-questions you should ask yourself about how you are investing your thoughts and time:

1. What do you spend your time thinking about? Make a list, be honest, and try to estimate how much time you spend on various topics or issues.

2. How much time do you spend thinking about your spouse or partner in a loving, supportive way?

3. How much time do you spend thinking about exactly what you want in life, and in your relationship?

4. How much time do you spend thinking and talking about things with your spouse or partner?

5. How much time do you spend thinking about the same kinds of things your partner thinks about?

6. How much time do you spend thinking about things that make you feel good, or happy?

The majority of people spend their time thinking about work, problems, money, debt, bills, what they're going to eat next, what's on television, or who's doing what to them to ruin their day or life. Most people simply don't spend their time thinking about their relationship in a way that enhances their relationship; rather, they state their views on the obvious and keep experiencing one version or another or the problems and complaints they continue to voice. It doesn't take a brain-surgeon to see that talking about problems doesn't solve them; more than half of the people who get married in the United States end up divorced.

Spend a little time thinking about how you've been investing your time, thoughts, and energy. If you do this with honesty and awareness, with an open heart and mind, you are very likely to notice that your life is a nearly perfect representation of your thoughts. If, for instance, you spend most of your time thinking negatively about "negative" things, you'll probably find that most of your life is negative - and filled with negative things, and more and more things to complain about. Take a moment and think about thinking - think about the thoughts you think. You'll probably realize how powerful and creative those thoughts actually are. Then, direct that powerful attention of yours to focus directly and completely on what you want in life - and how you want your life to be. Then, practice love and gratitude; think about your desires in a loving way - grateful for the fact that they are yours - and keep taking steps in that direction. If you redirect your thoughts, you will redirect your life, health, and even the tone and quality of your relationships.
